Coatsink To Release The Zoom! Update For Puzzler ‘Pinch’ Tomorrow

One of the most exciting and addicting puzzles games I’ve played on the iPhone is getting an exciting update tomorrow (September 8th) to incorporate many fan requested features. You can check out the review for Pinch here.

The update, called Zoom! (Update 1.3), features a rebuilt game engine which improves performance, visuals and adds a much-requested zoom mechanic. The zoom mechanic allows players to pinch the screen to zoom in and out of each level, giving a greater chance of solving the more difficult puzzles.

The overwhelmingly positive critical response that Pinch has had so far has allowed the developers to continue development of the game. Players will now have the opportunity to purchase additional DLC level packs for the game, which include new Openfeint leaderboards to compete on and Achievements to earn.
There is also a freemium version available, called Pinch Free (http://bit.ly/9TQUIQ), which gives players access to 24 levels for absolutely nothing.

In addition, the developers are officially announcing development of an iPad-based sequel to Pinch. Development was bolstered recently when the team successfully applied for a new office in the Victoria Business Unit at the University of Teesside in England. The assessment panel stated they were very impressed with Coatsink’s innovation and drive to succeed within the games industry.

This is great news for fans like myself. In the review we talked about adding zoom to help figure out some puzzles as well as the how difficult it could be to play the game on a small screen. It looks like we not only get a great new feature, but also the ability to play on a bigger screen with the new version of Pinch for the iPad. The iPad version should work really well especially when it comes to “pinching” and moving the norbs on a bigger screen. As well, just like previous updates, many new levels have been added and the graphics have been updated. Another feature we thought the game could use is leaderboard and achievement support. This will also be in this version.

I’m really liking the continued support for this game and really enjoying the new creative and mind boggling puzzles. It’s a great puzzle game that is still in my rotation of games I play on the iPhone and will no doubt stay there for quite some time with continued DLC and the eventual iPad release.
