Tributes to Relic Dev Brian Wood

Brian Wood, lead developer on Relic Games’s Company of Heroes Online, died on Friday 3rd September in a car accident. His pregnant wife Erin, was hospitalized, though her injuries were thankfully minor.

In a statement on their site, Relic said:

“Brian was the Senior Designer on the Company of Heroes franchise and a key member of the Relic family. Everyone here has a tremendous amount of respect for Brian and he will be greatly missed.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Brian’s family during this difficult time.”

Fans have also posted their condolences on the Relic forums.

The accident occurred north of Seattle. Wood’s vehicle was struck head-on by a Chevy Blazer driven by 21-year old Jordan B. Weichert, who was apparently attempting to remove a sweater while driving. Two male passengers in Weichert’s vehicle were also killed in the collision. Weichert was taken to hospital; Washington State Patrol have indicated that she is likely to be charged with vehicular assault and  homicide upon her release, along with fellow passenger Samantha R. Bowling.

I’m sure I can speak on behalf of all of P*N when I offer sincere condolences to the Wood family.

  • A shame all-around. Saddened to hear about this.
