Qore Hits a New Low

Qore, the video on demand service on PlayStation 3, was never a  great idea to begin with. With the bar set as low as it was for Qore, it was hard to imagine that it could get much worse. It has gotten worse.

The video portion of the service is still performing mildly admirably. This month’s Qore has decent videos on Fallout: New Vegas, Enslaved: Odyssey to the West, and Dead Rising 2. Where Qore has really taken a nose dive is the downloadable extras section.

This month’s downloads may be the worst offering ever made by any download service. The first download is a Subway Sandwich for PlayStation Home. That’s right, your Home avatar can carry around a sub sandwich. Seriously. The next item that you can download for free, is a Veronica Belmont theme. I had no idea who that was before I started writing this article. Apparently, she is the host of Qore and Tekzilla.

Qore costs $25 per year, unless you are paying $50 a year for PlayStation Plus.  Qore has always been a bad idea, but this is a new low.

  • Well, I’d never heard about your blog until it showed up in my Qore notifications, so I guess we’re even! The theme is for viewers to enjoy, since we assume they’re familiar with me and my work on the show.

Sorry you don’t like the extras this month; we try very hard to include things that subscribers will enjoy, but we’re sometimes at the mercy of developers and their cycles.

However, this month we do have a full download of the original Warhawk for subscribers, so maybe you missed that in the news:

Anyway, thanks for taking the time to check it out.

  • Gravy

Dude, everybody knows who Veronica is.

  • hahahahaha

that article was funny and the response from veronica was even better!!!!!

  • I’d hit it.

    • Nathan Hardisty (Bananahs)

      Wouldn’t we all Rane.

In fairness, I like Qore’s video content but it fails to feel unique. I’m glad it’s free for PSplus guys and it’s always great to see gameplay footage of an upcoming game.

    • the sandwich, right?

  • I’ve never been a fan of Qore myself, it started off kind of strong but fizzed out so quick, by month 3 it was just boring and not worth the price. The content just wasn’t there and it just wasn’t worth the money they were putting on it.

  • I was always jealous of the US as they had Qore but I like the UK’s version ‘First Play’ so much more. First Play’s downloadable content section has a new XMB theme every week and they give out free demos fairly often too. Qore could totally learn from FP.
