Platform Nation’s “A Simple Question”: Are You 3D?

The recent annoucement that Call Of Duty: Black Ops was going to be playable in 3D out of the box begs the question:

Is the inclusion of 3D in Call of Duty: Black Ops a selling point for you?

It’s hard to argue with additional content at no extra charge.  The only question is, did the development for this feature come at the expense of something else? If 96% (made up stat) of the gaming world won’t play in 3D, was that diversion of resources worthwhile?  I don’t own a 3D TV, so this answer is easy for me (but you still need to wait until Friday to see it!)’s response: “I haven’t seen what the game looks like in 3D, but I’m slightly skeptical on how much of an integral feature this will be.” – Great thought, what is yours?

A Simple Question (ASQ) is a weekly segment for Platform Nation.  Each week, you’ll be posed a question.   Give a response and let the world know what you think, there is no right or wrong answer here.  I will post my response on Friday. If you have a suggestion for a question, hit me up on twitter @vttym.

  • its suddendly turned it into a must buy for the PC for me. I don’t care for 3D on a console as they are already suffering with their resitricted power these days

  • This is just one more nail in the console coffin for me. The more 3D games that are available for PC, the more likely I’m going to jump over to PC gaming – just for the higher quality. The current generation of consoles are just not built for HD3D and something has to be compromised to force it to work. On the other hand – I’m not ready (yet) to drop the cash needed to put together a decent 3D gaming PC – but that day is coming. So eventually – yes, it is a selling point.

  • I don’t own a 3D monitor, so this isn’t big news to me. But I suppose it could be – I just think it’s still too early in the 3D lifecycle to spend resources on a huge title like this. I wonder what was left out as a result.

  • I have to admit i have a highend PC and I’m spending less and less time on my consoles. Sony an Microsofts decision to invest in kids accessories Move and Kinect will drive hardcore gamers back to the PC again. I’ve said it for a long time but consoles are holding the PC back and i think the gaming public want progress again

  • Oh and i play most of my PC games in 3D these days, just thought I would thrown that one in there.
