P*N New This Week: 10th October 2010

Welcome to Platform Nation’s weekly feature where we inform you, the reader, on all the game releases you should be looking out for.

Each week as well as bringing you news about which games are due to hit the shelves in the seven days ahead, the Platform Nation writer will choose their pick of the week.

My pick for this week is:

Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 1

Sonic the Hedgehog 4:Episode 1, Sonic returns to his 2D roots and some of the original zones as well.  Despite the numerous 3D games and Sonic Adventure games there have been, SEGA have cheekily named this Sonic 4.  It has not yet been confirmed how many episodes there will actually be but in the meantime Sonic 4: Episode 1 releases on the 12th for most systems.

My View: It looks like I’ll have the chance to relive part of my gaming childhood.  It’s Sonic returning to what he does best, getting from left to right in the quickest possible time while collecting rings.  There are several strong retail candidates for pick of the week but an honorary mention has to go to Borderlands GOTY as you may have missed the announcement that it comes with a code for early access to the Duke Nukem Demo.

The full rundown. As well as my pick of the week the following games are due for release:

X360: Alan Wake: The Writer DLC, Sonic the Hedgehog 4, Borderlands: GOTY Edition, Lucha Libre AAA Heroes of the Ring, Arcania: A Gothic Tale, Medal of Honor, Pinball FX 2

PS3: Sonic the Hedgehog 4, Borderlands: GOTY Edition, Lucha Libre AAA Heroes of the Ring, Sengoku BASARA Samurai Heroes, Medal of Honor

Wii: Sonic the Hedgehog 4, ZhuZhu Pets: Featuring The Wild Bunch, Sniper Elite, Just Dance 2

PSP: Who’s That Flying?!, Invizimals, Lucha Libre AAA Heroes of the Ring, Sengoku BASARA Samurai Heroes

DS: ZhuZhu Pets: Featuring The Wild Bunch, Lufia: Curse of the Sinistrals, Lucha Libre AAA Heroes of the Ring, Scribblenauts 2

  • I’ll probably look into that new Sonic, but everything else is getting back logged.
