Sony Introduces New Reward System

In a surprise announcement, the PlayStation Blog revealed a new program today that will be opening up to select people tomorrow (certain PlayStation Plus and G.A.P. members). The program is set to give out special statuses, recognition and most importantly, rewards to their most loyal fans (the ones send their hard earned dollars Sony’s way). According to the PlayStation Blog, the more new games you play, content you buy, and surveys you complete, will allow you to be now recognized for it. And once again, the most important thing with this new program will be the rewards that you will earn, and here is the rewards that you will be able to earn according to the PlayStation Blog:

  • Exclusive PSN avatars that display member status in the program
  • Exclusive dynamic themes and PlayStation Home content
  • Opportunities throughout the program year to participate in members-only sweepstakes and giveaways for experiences and merchandise you won’t find elsewhere (The first of which is an all expenses paid trip to the 2011 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, as PlayStation’s guest)

So what do you all think? Are you excited for this new reward system that is similar to Nintendo’s that rewards those “hardcore” type of gamers that tend to buy and play everything out there?

  • The difference between this and the Club Nintendo is that Club Nintendo actually gives you physical rewards, not avatars, themes, and a chance at maybe winning something. Nice try Sony. NICE TRY!

Yeah, cool idea but poor execution. Why don’t they reward you with free games or dlc at least? Honestly, I tried my PS Home one time and didn’t like it so I moved.
