Lost Writers New Fantasy Series Coming To ABC

Oh man does this get me excited. Lost writers Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis (and the upcoming Tron: Legacy, I know, calm down) have a new series in the works, and ABC is putting it into production. The show is going to be titled Once Upon A Time. Here’s the details:

The new show “is a mix of sci-fi and fantasy with a strong mystery element. Premise is a modern-day take on fairy tales, with a female protagonist who comes from a unique background.” The show is set in a small Maine town during the present time.

Variety reports that the “show will have a strong human emotional center.” And it will also have a large ensemble cast. Damon Lindelof is also a part of the project as a consultant.

I’m really surprised ABC is picking this up, the whole fantasy sci-fi theme seems odd with their programming. The closest comparisons I can see are the obvious Lost, No Ordinary Family or the creepy Invasion a couple of years back. I guess they realized the payoff with Lost and are risking another unique idea. New information about this show can not come soon enough.
