Anyway, hello and welcome to “Kinect For A Healthier Life – An Experiment In Weight Loss”. For those of you who are new, I am doing an experiment to see how good Kinect can be for exercising. I want to find out if I can really lose weight just by playing games on it. When I wrote the first part of this experiment last week, I only had Adventures and Your Shape Fitness Evolved. I have expanded my Kinect games library by adding Dance Central and Kinect Sports this past Tuesday.
Let me tell you right now, Dance Central will make you sweat your nuts off! I got to play a little bit this week and I really, really liked it. This will be a great game to get you moving and burn those calories. I also started Your Shape and I like it as well. It’s not quite as exciting as Dance Central, but what do you expect? It is an exercise game after all. I still enjoyed Your Shape though and can easily see myself playing it for a long time. Some of the activities were more difficult for me to do, while others were pretty easy. My wife agrees with this as well. She got a bit more time to play than I did and said she burned a ton of calories playing both games.
Overall, I would say that my first week was decent. Even though I didn’t get as much Kinect time as I had hoped for, I still got enough in to help me loose 3 lbs.! Hooray me!
I am going to bypass the measurements this week and do them every other week, as they will be less noticeable. So tune in next Friday to read about week 2 in my Kinect Experiment and see if the weight is still coming off or was this week just a fluke.
