Welcome to Platform Nation’s weekly feature where we inform you, the reader, on all the game releases you should be looking out for.
Each week as well as bringing you news about which games are due to hit the shelves in the seven days ahead, the Platform Nation writer will choose their pick of the week.
My pick for this week is:
World of Warcraft: Cataclysm
World of Warcraft: Cataclysm:The third expansion for the massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) World of Warcraft. The expansion revolves around the return of Deathwing the Destroyer. His return causes a cataclysm that reshapes much of the world’s surface. As well as reshaping the environment, this expansion brings many other changes and enhancements for WoW. A few of those include raising the level cap from 80 to 85, flying mounts available in the old worlds as well as the new worlds, 3500 new quests, 2 new playable races, new classes, new stats, new mechanics, the list goes on and on. A massive expansion.
My View: It’s difficult claiming to be a PC gamer while never, ever, playing a single minute of World of Warcraft. I deliberately avoided it as I knew it would consume my life; and because of this, I could not dedicate enough time to it and I’d end up letting my online buddies down. Curiosity almost got the better of me a couple of times in recent years but walking into a world with players with years of experience just kept putting me off. Cataclysm presents a major change in the World of Warcraft universe and may just be the opportunity for a newcomer like me to dip my toe in the water. I’ll be trying the trial at the very least for this, as 11 million monthly subscribers can’t be wrong. (can they?)
