Platform Nation’s “A Simple Question”: Gaming Villains

In case you haven’t been paying attention to everything going on here at Platform Nation (It’s tough, there’s a lot!), there’s a new piece being done by one of our writers that you can find over here that covers the Best of the Bad Bunch – reviewing villains in games, and pitting them against each other in epic battles of doom.

OK, so the battles may not be epic, but you get my point.  It also got me thinking (which is always dangerous) about this week’s ASQ:

What video game villain is your favorite, and why?

Simple enough question this week, right? But there are so many to choose from! From Koopa to Sephiroth to Hitler-But-Not-Really-Hitler.  The choice is ultimately yours, but don’t forget to give us a reason – we want to know WHY you chose Coily from Q*Bert.

(Tip – here’s an unofficial list of the top 100 villains, if you need some help remembering some)’s response: “I would have to say the Joker is my favorite super villain.  He’s amd [sic – ed note: mad?] that is what is so appealing about this character.” – Can’t fault the Joker as a good villain, especially in the latest Batman video game installment.

A Simple Question (ASQ) is a weekly segment for Platform Nation.  Each week, you’ll be posed a question.   Give a response and let the world know what you think, there is no right or wrong answer here.  I will post my response on Friday. If you have a suggestion for a question, hit me up on twitter @vttym.

  • My favorite villain in a game that I’ve played is probably Kefka from Final Fantasy III (VI in Japan). The guy was a balance of pure, comic genius, and at the end, ultra powerful that makes him a worthy opponent.

Psycho Mantis from Metal Gear solid was a close second based on the brilliant execution of his battle.
