EA Shutting Down Servers To Almost 30 Games

Electronic Arts has announced that nearly 30 games servers will be shut down between January and March.  Most of the games are either sports games or older games. Only about 1% of the gamers will be affected by this, but keeping servers up takes a lot of work and they would like the engineers and IT staff to worry about other games. Shutting down servers can’t be easy because people worked so hard on the games but new games are always coming out better then the old games and we tend to lose sight of some of the great older titles.

Here is the full list of games:

  • i guess the biggest surprise to me from this list is the fact that a few of the games were only released in the last 12 months.
I hate seeing the chance to earn some online achievements gones forever, but then I hate online achievements anyway.

EA openly disrespects its customers. Why would anyone continue buying from a company that so willingly exploits them like this? At least improve the game! EA basically change the number on the title and reship it, then cut off the service to the most recent versions. This forces people to re-purchase without any real improvement in game play, simply to reattain their online functions. EA is a shockingly greedy.

    Congratulations on NBA Elite 11.
