In a very cool announcement, Valve came out and stated that if you buy the PlayStation 3 version of Portal 2, you will also be able to play it on the PC or a Mac for free. In addition to getting the ability to play it on the PC or Mac, you will also be able to use Steam’s cloud based services for game saves, PlayStation 3, PC and Mac compatible. There will be other Steam services used as well:
The anticipated sequel to one of 2007’s most innovative games will feature cross-platform play between PlayStation 3 and PC, meaning that owners of both machines can enjoy the game’s new cooperative mode together.
Moreover, when the game is running on PlayStation 3, users will be able to see their entire Steam friends list and chat with them.
I can’t wait for Portal 2 to come out and this new level of cross platform compatibility really has me excited, I can only hope that we will see more of this in the future.
