According to a recent SEGA press release, the game previously announced as “Max Anarchy” is going to be officially titled “Anarchy Reigns”.
With ANARCHY REIGNS, PlatinumGames will be using their hallmark creativity and technical excellence to challenge the boundaries of the conventional brawler genre by allowing multiple players to get involved in heavy-hitting action simultaneously. ANARCHY REIGNS incorporates a diverse range of multiplayer modes to provide players with different challenges, including Tag Team battles and Battle Royal, where players can challenge others in a full-on fight for victory.
ANARCHY REIGNS will be available Fall 2011 for Xbox 360 and the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system.
As with all the previous SEGA PlatinumGames collaborations, one could probably expect, over the top set design, a cast of insane and totally likeable characters, and stylized game play like no other. It will be interesting to see exactly they define the boundaries of a Massive Online Brawler. Given that Platinum is known for crazy games and having high frame rates (like Bayonetta and Vanquish) cramming a bunch of dudes on screen could be difficult to pull off. Though having a title like “Anarchy Reigns” may be able to mask all the confusion all by itself.
