Uncharted On The NGP

I’ll back what Joystiq had to say about Uncharted on the NGP and lay this out there: it was a roller coaster ride of emotions as they showed off the game on stage. At first, I couldn’t believe that I might be able to play more Uncharted in addition to the third console installment of the franchise for the PS3, but then we were told that Naughty Dog will have about as much to do with it as Insomniac did with Resistance: Retribution as Sony Bend will be the studio behind the NGP iteration. I’m not saying this is bad as Retribution was a decent game, but it’s definitely disappointing.

Then, the inordinate amount of motion and touch controls makes me…wary. There are games that definitely make their entire living off of the touch and motion movement in gaming, but Uncharted wasn’t it. In fact, the Sixaxis grenade controls for Drake’s Fortune was probably the worst part about that game.

Still, though, it’s hard not to get excited over a portable, new Uncharted game that looks way too good to be on a similarly portable, new gaming device.
