Easily, one of the greatest Nintendo Entertainment System titles was River City Ransom. One part Final Fight, one part Final Fantasy, your character would walk the streets of River City improving stats as they take out the nine gangs. Since it’s original release, it’s arrived on both the Wii Virtual Console and remade on Game Boy Advance. To this day, there’s not been a true sequel to the title.
It looks like Japanese developer Miracle Kidz is looking to relive the past while looking to the future. They’ve mentioned in an interview that they’re working on a sequel for consoles and PCs. Most likely, given their previous publication history, WiiWare and Xbox Live Arcade would at least acquire the game. Given the downloadable and retro nature of the console, it wouldn’t be out of the question for the Nintendo 3DS to receive one as well.
Are you ready to storm the streets of River City again? I know I am.
