P*N New This Week: 20th March 2011

Welcome to Platform Nation’s weekly feature where we inform you, the reader, on all the game releases you should be looking out for.

Each week as well as bringing you news about which games are due to hit the shelves in the seven days ahead, the Platform Nation writer will choose their pick of the week.

My pick for this week is:

Crysis 2:

Crysis 2: is set in New York City in the year 2023 (three years after the events of the first game), which has since been evacuated due to alien infestation. Similar to its predecessor, Crysis 2 will provide freedom to customize weaponry and abilities. Crytek wanted to avoid making another game set in a jungle environment, as were Far Cry and Crysis; New York City has been dubbed an “urban jungle”. The urban atmosphere offers more options in how to progress and plan attacks. Players will be able to navigate between floors and buildings, as well as a destroyed cityscape.

My View: For many years Crysis has been the benchmark game for PC graphics.  When it was released most people had to accept that they needed to turn some of the settings down.  Crysis 2 has been developed in parallel for the major consoles too so PC so it will be interesting to see how this has affected Crysis 2.  I love the added gameplay element of the Nanosuit and the prospects of multiplayer excite me too, I played the PC and Xbox 360 multiplayer demos and they were solid experiences.
