3DS Off To A Rocky Start

After much anticipation, Nintendo’s 3DS finally debuted yesterday. But since its release, many gamers have been less than thrilled with the system’s performance.

When suspending a game, many users are experiencing a black screen telling them that an error has occurred. Nintendo is aware of the problem and has issued a statement:

If anyone is experiencing any problems with their Nintendo 3DS console, we recommend that in the first instance they download and install the latest system update, now available online.

If the problems still persist we recommend they contact their local Nintendo Customer Service centre to investigate the problem further.

It doesn’t seem like this black screen is quite as prominent as, say, the 360’s red ring o’ death — or as fatal — but it’s still an inconvenience, to be sure. I’d wager that this problem will be resolved fairly quickly. To all of you early adopters: give it time.
