Mortal Kombat Roster Leaked, DLC Characters Announced

The Mortal Kombat fansite Mortal Kombat United has just claimed responsibility for leaking the above image featuring the complete roster of the upcoming Mortal Kombat reboot, which is set to release on April 19th.

The following is a full list of playable characters:

Liu Kang
Kung Lao
Johnny Cage
Noob Saibot
Shang Tsung
Extras/DLC – Sheeva
Extras/DLC – Quan Chi

I had the opportunity to play myself a few weeks back with Hector Sanchez, a producer on the upcoming title, and have also had my share of fun with the demo. I have to say, this is really shaping up to be one helluva comeback for Mortal Kombat.

Besides for the above-mentioned Sheeva and Quan Chi, Mortal Kombat head honcho Ed Boone has confirmed that two other DLC characters are already confirmed, and has commented via twitter that unlike Marvel vs Capcom 3, the “DLC characters are NOT on the disc.

These two new characters are a knife throwing woman dressed in red that fans are calling Scarlet, and Kenshi, the blind wandering Samurai who made his debut in Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance. Scarlet is actually the result of a glitch from the original Mortal Kombat, and was a red palette swap of Milena.

Let us know if you plan on purchasing this game and what your thoughts are on the complete roster.

  • I have prepurchased the game already and downloaded the demo-game, as a result of these two i am overjoyed to see the roster combined with great old school fighters going back to MKI MKII MKIII and now they are bringing in a barrage of new comers which is making me drool. I canot wait to DL all C’s and Murder people online either 1V1 or 2V2….. Finish them I SAY

    • Daniel Horowitz (HavenDan)

Yeah they really did a great job with this, I like the implementation of 2v2 and how they actually don’t regain health when you switch out, it’s like actually having two characters, not like MvC3 or something. The only character I’m waiting to see come out is Goro.

  • looks super awesome nd i cant wait 2 play the game…im soo estatic! xD

    • Daniel Horowitz (HavenDan)

ya it’s definitely worth the wait, it looks fantastic!

  • I’ve got the Kollectors edition ordered and I am really looking forward to the rebirth of Mortal Kombat!!!

    • Daniel Horowitz (HavenDan)

I’m actually leaning toward the tournament edition, that stick is actually a lot of fun to play with.

      • I preordered KE, thinking the Tournament Edition price will go down post launch like Halo: Reach Legendary Edition (I learned the hard way). I’m regretting not preordering TE instead now. Looks like the price is gonna go up, if any are left post-launch.

        • Daniel Horowitz (HavenDan)

I have a feeling that they’re going to make more fight sticks, as it’s pretty hard to get a pre order as of now. They definitely offer a unique American arcade style experience that isn’t found in other fight sticks. The only issue I really see though is that the fight stick is going to be difficult to use with other fighting games like SF IV, Tekken 6 and MvC3.

      • I have the SF4 round 2 arcade stick so I can’t justify a MK version

        • Daniel Horowitz (HavenDan)

I think that’s going to be the main issue with the MK fight stick. It really only works for MK, and while it’s really cool, it’s going to be a hard sell beyond the Tournament edition. I’d like to see them make the fight stick available beyond this, but I’m not sure if it’ll be justifiable. Given that the Tournament edition is already hard to get at this point, I’m sure it’ll see well with that bundle, but I’m not sure how well it well sell beyond that.

      • thats what she said… but yeah. i got the ps3 version on pre-order soooo Kratos form me ๐Ÿ˜€

        • Daniel Horowitz (HavenDan)

awesome! I wish I had a PS3, sadly I’ll be stuck with the 360 version and no Kratos ๐Ÿ™

  • The bottom left and bottom right are both Cyber Sub-Zero. I have a feeling that this isn’t how the screen will look when the game goes gold, at least not for those squares. As I remember, those two were for Random and DLC, respectively. Supposedly, Quan-Chi and Cyber SubZero are Secret Characters. According to the Achievement list, there are 4 Hidden fighters to discover and fight, but only 2 Secret Characters to unlock. It may be possible that Cyber Sub-Zero and Quan-Chi are hidden from the select screen and only chosen ala MK4. Just my speculation, though.

    • Daniel Horowitz (HavenDan)

I’m sure that’s not exactly what the final character selection screen is going to look like either, Elias. I feel like this may have been reconstructed by Mortal Kombat United to give fans a sense of what the screen would look like, but then again, that’s just speculation. Is the achievement list out yet? I haven’t seen it
but I’ll do a search for it now.
That’s an interesting theory, given Cyber Sub-Zero is not featured on the complete roster list and hasn’t really been officially confirmed to be a playable as of yet.
