Capcom just released some information about Dragon’s Dogma, a new open world action game from Producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi of Resident Evil and Devil May Cry fame and Director Hideaki Itsuno of Marvel vs Capcom 2 and Devil May Cry fame. The game is classic high fantasy, and seems to involve the same sort of fast-paced combat we’ve come to except from Devil May Cry while retaining the freedom of an open world game. Take a look at the gameplay in the below gameplay demonstration.
The game has a party of three (warrior, rouge, mage) utilizing teamwork while working with some sort of dragon…
and is said to run on Capcom’s MT Framework engine, giving it a similar graphical feel to Resident Evil 5 and Lost Planet 2. Look for an early 2012 release date for the Xbox 360 and PS3.
Here’s the reveal trailer, which doesn’t really reveal much besides for some cool action sequences and a pretty inspired soundtrack that is a combination of high fantasy chorus and rock n’ roll. I’ll also post the new screenshots and concept art below.
Also, if you’re curious about the story and class system of the game, IGN just posted a video interview with developers at Capcom that talks a bit more about the plot and character customization .
