Shigeru Miyamoto Talks Project Cafe Rumors, Possible Leaked Screenshots

In a recent interview with Edge, Nintendo exec Shigeru Miyamoto confronted rumors about the upcoming Nintendo console, codenamed Project Cafe
Platform Nation writer Paul Simister (Simiad) in a nicely written article has detailed the rumors if you are interested in hearing more about this.

“Don’t ask! Even when the Wii launched we were developing new hardware, work on 3DS had already started. It’s a matter of when we announce it.”

“Yes, I have read rumours about Café. I want to say it’s normal. You know, for Nintendo, as with the other platform holders, our job is to create new hardware.

“We think it takes five years to do interesting R&D. So, I confess there isn’t smoke without fire. We always build consoles. You’ll never see some of them.

“But you don’t have to trust all the stuff you read.”

Miyamoto pretty much confirmed the existence of the console, but as far as current rumors…we may just have to wait until E3 to get a more comprehensive picture. Still, I personally feel like the console is going to improve massively upon the blocks of the Xbox 360 and PS3, as they’ve had years to near-perfect their flawed technology.

But for now, to fan the flames of rumor, these new allegedly leaked screenshots of concept work on Project Cafe have just been released on the web. I’ll post these below for your viewing pleasure.
