Ubisoft Creates Motion Picture Wing

Ubisoft, the company behind famed franchises such as Prince of Persia, Assassins Creed, Rayman and Far Cry, have just announced plans to open their own movie studio that they uncreatively named Ubisoft Motion Pictures. Although they just released an adaptation of Prince of Persia: Sands of Time last year in collaboration with Disney, it was pretty mediocre, so I can see why Ubisoft wants to take film matters into their own hands.

As far as major staff goes, Jean de Rivieres, will handle marketing and international sales, while Jean-Julien Baronnet will run the studio and Didier Lupfer will head production and development. These are all major players in the film industry, and it will be interesting to see how they adapt their major franchises to the silver screen.
