A Simple Question (With Recap): Platform Playing Habits

In discussion on Twitter over last week’s question about network connectivity, it was mentioned that an online network not being available wouldn’t affect anyone, because very few people are exclusive to one system.  I didn’t comment further on it, because I thought it’d make a great follow-up question. You tell me:

Do you spend majority of your time (80%+) on one gaming platform?

I don’t care which it is; Xbox 360, PS3, (3)DS, PC… the point of the question is do you put majority of your gameplay into one console?  I personally put majority of my time into the Xbox exclusively, with a tiny amount going to the PC (mostly when doing a PC review).  I suppose if XBL were to go down I could shift my gaming over to the PC or even the DS, but I think I’d probably just end up gaming less until it was back up (which is what typically happens when my Xbox goes RROD).

Usually I would put in responses from Twitter, but this is a Recap week, where we close out and recap a month’s worth of previous ASQs.  Here are the results:

Game Cheats (Do you use them?) – 100% say they do not use them

Duke Nukem Forever (Will it be the last one?) – 83.3% say it will not be the last one

RROD Warranty (Should it be extended forever?) – 71.4% say it should be

Sex and Violence (Which is MORE inappropriate for children?) – 66.7% say violence

Got something to say about either this week’s question or the poll results?  Shout it out below!

A Simple Question (ASQ) is a weekly segment for Platform Nation.  Each week on Monday,  I’ll  ask a question on Twitter at #PNASQ. Give a response and let the world know what you think; there is no right or wrong answer here. If you have a suggestion for a question, hit me up on twitter @vttym.

  • Im 90% a ps3 guy these days. Even with the PSN off I haven’t turned on my wii or my 360 (though I have done some gaming on my pc). I was never like this before this gen. I’m just such a whore for trophies that I play all multiplatform games on the ps3. It’s sad, really. Prior generations it was all about what version was best, now all I care about is some silly score.

    • I agree with you 100% here. I have Braid on my PC and I refuse to play it in the off-chance I might one day buy it for XBLA and get achievement points for it. It’s insane, and I know it is, but that’s the truth of it.

  • I hate to say it but I am a 90% 360 gamer the other 10 goes to DS and PS3 with a very small percentage going to PSP and I agree with famousmortimer it was all about version and which one was best now I like to see my achievement score increase and love to hear the silly sound when an achievement is unlocked.

Also very surprising to hear that 100% say they wouldn’t use game cheats. Great to hear though as I hate game cheats.

  • Yeah, I was really surprised about the game cheats one as well. Then again, maybe we just have really honest folk here at Platform Nation 🙂

    for me, I’m about 55% Xbox, 44% PC and 1% PS3.

My launch PS3 has been the most expensive paper weight I have ever purchased and the recent PSN debacle is not going to push that 1% much higher.

I would prefer to be 90% PC and each month that passes where this generation of consoles gets older I get closer and closer to that 90% PC. Especially given the fact that I can control many PC games using an Xbox 360 controller, then my console usage is decreasing daily.
