For those of you who think that the Xbox Live Marketplace being down for some is a prelude to a fiasco not unlike the PlayStation Network debacle, let your fears be assuaged. Xbox Live Director of Programming Larry Hyrb (Major Nelson) has just stated on his twitter that the issue is an internal one.
The Marketplace issues are related to an internal operational error – sorry for the inconvenience. We are working to resolve ASAP.
I have restated the information on my own twitter account and will try to keep you all updated as the issue is being resolved. It’s doubtful that any hackers are involved and credit card information is being stolen this time around, but it’s always good to sleep with one eye on your bank statement and a firm grasp on your wallet.
Update: Major Nelson has just updated that the Marketplace is back online
The Marketplace on the console is back online. The Xbox.com version is on it’s way soon.
Let us know if you are now able to give Microsoft your money.
