I knew DC’s Flashpoint miniseries was going to be a big deal but I didn’t know it was going to lead to such big news. Today, DC Comics announced that starting August 31st the entire DC Universe line of comics is going to be renumbered. Leading this renumbering will be DC’s premier super hero team; the Justice League. Justice League #1 is coming on August 31st and will be written by Geoff Johns with art by Jim Lee. Then, in September, 51 other books will begin their renumbering with number 1 issues.
The most exciting part of the announcement though is that all 52 (DC loves the number 52) of these books are going to be released on the same day and date digitally as they are in stores. As a big fan of digital comics I’m thrilled to see DC committing nearly all of their books to the format. Marvel is going to watching intently and I hope they soon follow DC’s example.
