Could it be? Could the day finally be here when the PlayStation Network Store will reopen? The answers to these questions are yes according to the PlayStation Blog that indeed the end is near and we will be seeing full functionality of the store by the weeks end.
Sony Corporation and Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE) announced today that Sony Network Entertainment International (SNEI, the company) will fully restore all PlayStation®Network services in the Americas, Europe/PAL territories and Asia, excluding Japan, Hong Kong, and South Korea by the end of this week.
It may have seemed like forever with the store coming back online, but Sony has been conducting extensive testing of the payment process and commerce functions. Also they have implemented considerable security enhancements to the network infrastructure that we are already aware of with the return of some functionality such as online game play, account management, friend lists and chat functionality that returned a couple of weeks ago. With the full restoration around the corner here is what will be available once again.
• Full functionality on PlayStation®Store
• In-game commerce
• Ability to redeem vouchers and codes
• Full functionality on Music Unlimited powered by Qriocity for PS3, PSP, VAIO and
other PCs
• Full functionality on Media Go
With the ability to redeem vouchers and codes it looks like we will be able to download our free games Sony is providing us with their Welcome Back program.
