A Simple Question (With Recap): E3 Stakes

E3 is just around the corner and is shaping up to be quite an exciting one (thanks in no small part to some hardware we expect to see out of Nintendo, and possibly Sony). While there is always some sort of storyline going into these, I feel like this year there are some particularly intriguing ones.  Each of the Big 3 companies has something at stake, and needs a good show in order to get people pumped for their respective systems.  Sony’s troubles have been well documented over the last handful of weeks, Nintendo is hoping to turn heads with another seemingly revolutionary system design after a serious waning of interest in the Wii, and Microsoft enters in pretty good shape, but runs the risk of falling behind the other 2 companies from a hype perspective if they plan on just showing more Kinect games.  Which brings me to this week’s question:

Of the Big 3 gaming companies, which one most needs the best showing at E3?

(You may need to refresh the page to see the poll below)

Note the wording here; I’m not asking which one will HAVE the best showing, I’m interested in who you think NEEDS the best showing.  Personally, I think the Sony needs the image boost the most; they’ve handled the situation pretty well since the first week, but as of this writing, still have no PSN Store up.  I imagine they’re scrambling to get that up an running before E3 so that the conversation can turn to what they are going to do in the future rather than what they are doing to fix the past: success at E3 is dictated by who looks best when looking forward.

This is a recap week, where we visit some polls from weeks prior, and put the results up:

Unplayed DLC (Do you own any DLC that you have not yet played?): 42.9% of people have purchased DLC they have not played yet.

Avatar Goodies (Which is better, Props or Clothing?): 83.3% thought Props were better

Classic Game Bugs (Would bugs and exploits in classic games be patched if released today?): 62.5% thought games would be patched rather than be tolerated

Online Networks (Would an extended outage affect your ability to play games?): 60% said yes

That’s it for the recaps.  Got something to say about either this week’s question or the previous poll results?  Shout it out below!

I agree with your points on Sony. I personally don’t have a beef with them, but I know there are a lot of gamers that whine an awful lot. So yeah, Sony needs a huge image boost this year to quell the crying and whining.
