I don’t really care to report on rumors or conjecture but I thought it might be fun to address the rumors regarding a Kinect enabled Mass Effect 3.
Only having played Mass Effect with a controller and having limited experience using Kinect, I struggle to imagine what gameplay would be like without the use of a controller.
I imagine finger guns and taking cover behind my couch. Lifting enemies into the air before smashing them to the ground using a carefully orchestrated hand motion whilst I “finger gun” other enemies could be pretty awesome. Kinect may also make physical relationships with other crew members a bit more interesting.
PlayStation has already started to incorporate weapons with their Move controller, but as of yet Kinect has no peripherals. Could Mass Effect be the game to spark the use of Kinect accessories?
If you’re on the fence about the idea of a Kinect enabled Mass Effect just remember, the Mass Effect franchise is undoubtedly one of the greatest to date with a dedicated following. I don’t think BioWare would do anything that they thought would sully that reputation. Plus you can always just use a controller.
Kinect enabled or not, Mass Effect 3 is a game to look forward to and is slated for release the first half of 2012.
