Ubisoft and Gibson Guitar have teamed up to bring us the Rocksmith Guitar Bundle. The newly announced bundle will be available for the Xbox 360, the PlayStation 3 and the PC. Take a look below at what it will include.
The bundle will include the video game along with an Epiphone Les Paul Junior guitar and the Rocksmith Real Tone Cable™, a unique 1/4″-to-USB cable; the first of its kind! Developed exclusively for Rocksmith, this revolutionary cable converts the guitar’s signal from analog to digital, allowing it to be recognized and played through video game consoles and Windows PC. Available at launch and priced at $199.99, this bundle provides an entry-level opportunity for people that have always wanted to play guitar but don’t actually own one. The standard edition of the game also includes the Rocksmith Real Tone Cable and will be available this Fall 2011 for $79.99.
Now remember, this is a real guitar that is included in the bundle, so if the price seems a little steep for some, that is why. But this bundle, and Rocksmith itself, makes me wonder: is this just one of those gimmick games like Power Gig? The game itself (Power Gig) was alright but never caught on, even though it did come with a 2/3 size plastic guitar and had some decent songs. Power Gig originally sold for $180, but now is down to under $55 on amazon.com (see links below). That is a pretty steep price cut just so they can get them out the door, and I hope the same thing doesn’t happen with Rocksmith because, let’s be honest, it does look pretty good.
