The long running Greg Hastings Paintball franchise is now available on the PlayStation 3 through the PlayStation Network. Greg Hastings Paintball 2, which originally was released for Wii and Xbox 360 last year has now made its way over to the PlayStation Network. The franchise, which has always attracted a dedicated audience, continues to expand. In the newest entry, Greg Hastings Paintball 2 supports up to 7v7 online matches or local 2-player splitscreen.
The game also features new changing weather conditions such as “rain, fog, wind, and mud,” to keep matches exciting and unpredictable . But you probably wont have a problem with that as this game has 62 different fields to play on. Ranging from the US to Europe the fields come from 12 real paintball locations and cover forests to tournament arenas. If that isn’t enough the game also features a map editor so you can make your own fields and bring them online. There are seven game modes including “elimination, capture the flag, single flag, point capture, assault, sniper, and recon.”
While this game probably gets its legs from its multiplayer it also features a robust singleplayer. You are able to manage up to a team of 10 and can trade them off the field and command them on the field. You can also equip and manage a large array of gear and weapons ranging from the pistols you used to play with as a kid all the way to paint grenades & rocket launchers. PlayStation Move support and Trophy support have been added exclusively for the PSN version.
Greg Hastings Paintball 2 promises to be “the most realistic paintball videogame to date,” though I doubt anything can surpass Extreme Paintbrawl.
Greg Hastings Paintball 2 is available now on PSN, Xbox 360, and Wii for $19.99.
