Yes, that’s right Captain Picard fans, all 177 glorious episodes of Star Trek: Next Generation are now available on Netflix Instant Stream! For some, this news might not be all that exciting. Maybe you just never really got into following the adventures of the USS Enterprise and her crew, and that’s just fine. But for all you Trekkies out there, this must be like mana from the heavens. Although, if you were already a Star Trek nerd, then the complete DVD series is likely to have already been part of your lavish collection. However, for those of us who didn’t want to dish out a hundred dollars or more for a DVD bundle, we are finally in luck. While, I was a late bloomer to Star Trek myself (having always been a Star Wars fanboy as a kid), I find myself liking it more and more over the years. Although some of the earlier episodes in the Next Generation are admittedly quite cheesy, there is still a significant amount of entertainment that is to be had here.
Plus, if you’re like me, then you probably spend half the time on Netflix Instant Stream just trying to find something suitable to watch. This is because after you have been a Netflix member for a fair length of time, you really have to work to find something that isn’t a B-movie or a classic you have already seen a dozen times or more in the past. In spite of these complaints, I still love Instant Stream and am happy to say that it just got a hell of a lot better. I think you can guess what I will be watching over the next few weeks, along with what was playing as I typed up this article. So if you’re a Netflix member, or know someone who can give you a free month’s trial, be sure to check out William Riker, Deanna Troi, Data and friends on your PC and consoles! Who knows, you might end up becoming a Trek fan yourself (that is, if you weren’t already).
