Uncharted Movie Staying Faithful To The Games

Neil Burger, the man taking the reins from David O. Russell on the Uncharted movie, has told Crave Online that he’s ‘beginning from scratch and going back to the videogame.’

He also acknowledges that ‘It’s really one of the most cinematic videogames, and one that has really developed characters. So, you know, there’s a lot of cool, really intense things that, if they work for the film’s story, I want to use them.’

As for whether Nathan Fillion may now get the leading role that still seems unclear, Russell is aware of the fan campaign and admits that he thinks Fillion is ‘a good actor’, but goes on to say that right now they’re not even thinking about actors as they’re re-building the whole project from scratch.

Personally, I kind of think Nolan North should play Drake, as I can’t imagine the character without his voice.

Casting questions aside, that all sounds good to me, and while David O. Russell has certainly made some great films he clearly had no idea of how to make an Uncharted film. Maybe now Nathan Drake will actually be Nathan Drake, rather than part of a family of antique dealers and whatever other nonsense Russell cooked up.
