The Red Orchestra series is the drug of choice for simulation shooter fans and WW2 buffs. The historical accuracy and impressive realism is not matched by any other game. For years fans have been battling on the various virtual battleground’s of Tripwire Interactive’s Red Orchestra. But the game has been out for almost 6 years by now and its about time for an upgrade.
Red Orchestra 2 is now nearing release, and Tripwire Interactive has finally unveiled the price and Pre-order bonuses available for the game. The game will be released for $39.99, but right now you can get a 10% discount if you pre-order from Steam. The discount doubles to 20% if you own the original title, making this upcoming release only $32, which is quite a bargain.
The bonuses for longtime fans don’t stop there! Owners of the first Red Orchestra will also get the Kar98 and 9130 Mosin Nagant rifles as a day 1 unlocks as well as the Russian Guards Badge and the German Assault Badge as exclusive items. These badges work similarly to hats in Team Fortress 2 and left you show your loyalty to the series in-game.
There is also a Digital Deluxe Edition of the game which normally costs $49.99 ( $45 right now when you pre-order, and $40 if you own the original). This version includes day 1 unlocks of the German G41 Sniper and MKB42 and the Russian AVT40 and SVT40 Sniper. You also get a nice collection of cross-promotion items, including two hats for Team Fortress 2 and two skins for Tripwire’s Killing Floor.
Red Orchestra 2 runs off the Unreal Engine 3 and will take place during the Battle of Stalingrad during 1942-1943. The game will feature a campaign, a first for the series, to let players practice before going online. The multiplayer has also been improved to make sure its more accessible (which hopefully means no more walking for 5 minutes just to be blown away by a gunman you never saw). On top of this a ton of new graphical features have been implemented to make the game more visually stunning then ever before.
Red Orchestra 2 comes out on August 30th for PC on Steam.
