A number of Xbox Live Rewards members woke up this morning to find a nice little surprise in their Microsoft account after a glitch in the system resulted in some users receiving their rewards a number of times. The Rewards system, which rewards Xbox Live members with Microsoft Points for spending their hard earned cash on marketplace content and renewing live accounts, was due to pay out the rewards when a glitch hit the system resulting in 1,000’s of additional points being credited to Microsoft Accounts.
When a few honest gamers contacted Xbox Support on Twitter to inform them of the expensive error, an update was posted from the @XboxSupport account, “There was a known issue with the rewards system. The points you were rewarded are yours.” While this was true for those of the Rewards members who spent their points immediately, another update was then posted stating that the points were being recalled.
Were you one of the chosen few who received additional points? Do you think it’s fair that some got to spend them and others had to begrudgingly hand them back? Let us know your thoughts below.
