Mass Effect 3 is set to be the epic conclusion to the current Mass Effect trilogy, and according to producer Michael Gamble, it’s also the end of Shepard’s story. When asked by PC Gamer if the end of Mass Effect 3 meant no more Shepard, Gamble replied “Yes, after this Commander Shepard’s story is complete.”
However the end of Shepard doesn’t mean the end of Mass Effect, and Bioware CEO Dr. Ray Mazuka told PC Gamer that they “have ambitious plans to continue this franchise going forward” and that Mass Effect 3 is both an ending and “a brand new beginning.”
Personally I’m glad that they plan to continue the series beyond the trilogy, as it’s such a rich universe I’m sure there’s a lot of stories left to tell.
