Dog Pile HD is a game from JoshOClock & ArtWitz Design and it has been making the charts on the App Store for the last couple of weeks. If you aren’t familiar with Dog Pile, your main goal is to drop dogs and get them to land near the same breed, therefore making the dogs disappear. I would say this game is similar to Coin Drop, Bejewelled or even Plinko!
As with most games, you start with a couple of nice and easy levels, dropping the dogs and completing the level with very little effort. However, I’ve never had the difficulty ramp up this fast, as by the 7th or 8th level I was struggling to complete the levels without having to give it a couple of attempts. This is the thing that keeps you going back to the game, even though you have the cartoon style and the fun dog characters that would appeal to the younger audience, this is joined by the difficulty that would have an adult wanting to play the game.
If you have a kid, this is the perfect game for you both to play. You can play the game two different ways: you can either time your drops, and wait for the obstacles to be in the perfect position and drop your dog with precision. Or, you can drop dogs without even looking where they are going, and hoping that they hit your target. Later on in the game you will be using the restart button way more than you’d expect, and with three different themes available at the moment (pirate, space and carnival), the gameplay mixes up quite often, with new elements being added at least every couple of levels. You also have the option to customize the dogs to other wacky animals and characters, and even give them accessories like sunglasses.
- Unique art style
- Difficult and challenging gameplay
- Huge variety of levels
- Option to download more levels
With such a wide variety of levels and a very unique cartoon art style, Dog Pile HD keeps you coming back, just to get to that next level, and the next, and the next.
