Demon’s Souls is a very hard and unforgiving game. The semi-sequel, Dark Souls, reportedly has players dying repeatedly in the prologue tutorial. The game came out in 2009, but you’ll be forgiven if you’ve never managed to beat it. As it had an inventive and engaging online component, players expected to lose this functionality in October, but Atlus has swooped in to save the day.
Announced today, Atlus will be keeping the servers for the game up through 2012. This will let players complete the original game with its intended online component well past the launch of Dark Souls. As Demon’s Souls is only $19.99 MSRP, it’s not a bad deal for a game that might take you years to beat. With this extension, you might actually be able to beat it in time.
