Ubisoft’s upcoming Rocksmith game, a rhythm-em-up played with a real guitar will now have the option for consumers to buy a seperate Rocksmith™ Real Tone Cable. The Real Tone Cable is exclusive to Rocksmith and has a 1/4″ to USB connection.
The Real Tone cable will be available for individual purchase across North America from September 23rd 2011 while the Rocksmith game itself will be available from October 18th 2011.
Why do you need this cable? Well, having another cable will enable cooperative play for two players. This cable will also turn a guitar signal from analogue sound into glorious digital which means it will be recognised and played through video game systems – for the first time ever.
How much will it cost me? Well the price of the 11.25′ Real Tone cable will have a Manufacturers Suggested Retail price of $29.99. Whether that’s worth it or not is totally up to you!
Rocksmith will be the only video game in which players can plug any real guitar with a (standard) 1/4″ jack into the 360, PS3 and Windows PC. Players can then play through a huge library of music and if they’re using a second Real Tone Cable then simultaneous split-screen co-op will be available. This cable also allows players to record their own music directly onto their computer at 48kHz quality.
The Real Tone Cable will have a quick release design ensuring your hardware should be well protected from ‘rocking out’ accidents. Yeah, you know the ones.
Here’s what Adam Novickas, US Director of Marketing at Ubisoft had to say,
“The Rocksmith Real Tone Cable is a cool piece of technology. Having multiple cable options will allow Rocksmith players to participate in cooperative gameplay, which is a feature of the game that we are extremely excited about as it adds to the overall gameplay experience,”
The Rocksmith Real Tone Cable will be shipping as a stand-alone product alongside the standard edition of the game and the bundle, which includes an Epiphone Les Paul Junior guitar. Both the standard edition and bundle include the Rocksmith Real Tone Cable.
