Mad Catz have just announced that their new Xbox 360 stereo headset named ‘The Detonator’ has shipped, and is ready for gamers to get their grubby mitts on.
This is no ordinary Mad Catz accessory though. This time Mad Catz have teamed up with Tritton and created some quality cans. I have to say that I have never personally been a ‘come back’ customer of Mad Catz, mainly because a lot of their accessories are on the lower end of the quality spectrum; but the fact that they have co-created this headset with Tritton gives me faith that it will definitely be great quality, and won’t break within a week of heavy use. GO TEAM, as they say.
The specs are very impressive, boasting no less than 50mm Neodymium Drivers – now I don’t actually know what that is, but it sounds superb.
Oh fine, Neodymium is an element used in magnets, and neodymium magnets are widely considered the best around as they’re both the strongest and lightest, meaning that these headphones will pack a lot of punch yet should still feel light and comfortable. The Detonator also comes with a detachable boom mic, in-line volume control and selectable voice monitoring.
Even though The Detonator is Xbox 360 branded it, can also be used with your MP3 player and even your cellphone which I think is a great little bonus.
Darren Richardson, the President and Chief Executive Officer of Mad Catz Interactive, Inc had this to say:
We are excited to be shipping the first product in our highly anticipated co-branded headset range. Releasing a co-branded range of headsets has enabled us to offer an enticing feature set and quality audio which we are certain will appeal to the passionate gamer this holiday season
If you want to put these in your Christmas stocking they will cost you $79.99 (£59.99)
