‘Splosion Man was a sleeper hit on Xbox Live Arcade, with it’s inventive gameplay combined with classic 2D side-scrolling and puzzle solving finding enough of an audience and critical praise. Two years after it’s original release, Ms. ‘Splosion Man continued the gameplay outside of the labs in which it started. While both of those titles were planned, created, and released, Brian Provinciano has been hard at work at Retro City Rampage. What started as a NES remake of Grand Theft Auto III has become a major downloadable title for retro gamers, combining old school gameplay and visuals with modern concepts.
Turns out, ‘Splosion Man and Ms. ‘Splosion Man will add to the mix. VBlank Entertainment revealed at MineCon 2011 that the two characters will be added to the still-upcoming title. The new trailer for these characters reveals how they’ll be playable in the game, retaining much of their modern gaming splendor in the 8-bit world. As previously announced, Retro City Rampage will hit the Xbox Live Arcade before WiiWare, for financial reasons.
Have you played as the exploding heroes, or have you been saving your Microsoft Points for the more retro title?
