If the years Universal Century 0079, Future Century 60, or After Colony 195 mean anything to you, the year 2012 AD will mean something as well. Mobile Suit Gundam, G-Gundam, and Gundam Wing were forerunners of the Gundam multiverse that exploded in America in the early 2000s, with figures and model kits available at major stores like Walmart while the shows aired on Toonami and Adult Swim. Things leveled off in America, but we’re still getting new productions such as Gundam 00 and Gundam Unicorn, and would likely get Gundam Age in 2012 or 2013. Last year in Japan, Gundam Extreme VS. was released, pitting pilots and Mobile Suits from multiple universes in battle with one another, set to the tunes of Linkin Park, at least in the intro.
With Gundam Extreme VS. getting a home release in Japan next month, it’s about to for the reveal of a new title. Weekly Famitsu has confirmed a new title, Gundam Extreme VS. Full Boost, will be hitting arcades sometime next year. It seems as if the titular “Full Boost” will be a defensive technique in the game. Logically, the title will likely add more characters, refine moves, and such to the already-existing title. Also likely, we’ll not see this in America.
Did you watch Gundam Wing when it premiered in America on Toonami? Do you miss the days of Gundam Battle Assault?
