Once or twice a year, Microsoft sends a major update to Xbox 360 users. Traditionally including some big changes, such as a complete revitalization of the look or some new services, Microsoft saves updates for big ones instead of constant small updates that Sony does. Members of the Xbox LIVE Preview Program have been able to take advantage of the update for a few days now, and everything seems to be going smooth. Microsoft has announced that the update will go live on December 6th.
Microsoft sums up the update
- New personal and social features including Cloud Storage for Game Saves and LIVE Profile
- Beacons and Facebook Sharing
- Enhanced Family Settings
- Integrated voice and gesture controls across the dashboard and in apps
- Bing voice search (Available this year in the US, UK and CA)
Microsoft also adds that more content will be rolling out in the “holiday months”, focusing on upgrading their streaming and downloadable media options. Most interesting for people who go to friends’ houses is the Cloud Storage, presumably no longer requiring a USB drive or Memory Unit to load up accounts without the long recovery load times.
Are you in the preview program, or are you just looking forward to this update?
