Platform Nation has been buzzing about Firefall ever since our very own Steven Artlip had a hands-on preview at PAX Prime last year. The game is currently in a closed beta and the details slowly trickling out are all pointing to Firefall’s eventual success as the next big thing to come to free online multiplayer gaming. Another chance to play the game will be coming to SXSW attendees on March 9-11.
Laguna Hills, CA – March 6, 2012 – Red 5 Studios™ announced today that it will bring its upcoming open world PC shooter, Firefall™, to South by Southwest (SXSW) in Austin, Texas, March 9-11. Attendees will get to experience Firefall’s dynamic open world with a hands-on demo, talk to Typhon and Mourningstar in their completed “Battleframes”, and walk away registered for Firefall’s exclusive beta.
Firefall is currently in the first stage of its exclusive, invite-only beta – planned to rollout during 2012. Players can sign-up for the chance to be invited into the beta and meet Firefall’s enthusiastic community at the official homepage: http://www.firefallthegame.com/home
All the hype I’ve heard from my fellow Platform Nationalists has had me itching to see exactly what makes this game so great. From the cartoon-y looks, to the varied classes, and weapons, this game looks like it will finally supplant TF2’s very tight hold on me.
