At the start of the month the much-anticipated Mass Effect 3 hit the stores worldwide. Not long after people went online in droves to voice their complaints about the ending(s)
In case you are still playing I won’t go into details about the endings or the various complaints that have been raised so feel free to read on with the knowledge that it is spoiler free.
While it is generally accepted that you can’t please everybody all of the time, the general consensus is that the ending to Mass Effect 3 wasn’t very good(on a personal note I thought the ending was okay in principle but raised more questions that it answered but I am in the minority) one person went as far as to complain to the FTC which thankfully seems to be viewed with as much derision as the actual endings themselves.
However it’s not all mindless internet rage, with one savvy gamer launching and online petition in support of Child’s Play.
The Retake Mass Effect – Child’s Play donation drive is a community driven effort to bring positive attention to our petition for an alternate ending to the fantastic Mass Effect series. The Child’s Play charity was chosen as a charity started by gamers to provide video games for the patients at Children’s Hospitals all over the world.
We would like to dispel the perception that we are angry or entitled. We simply wish to express our hope that there could be a different direction for a series we have all grown to love.
To date it has $71303.25, an amazing feat for something born out of frustration.
