GOG Announces ‘Premium Editions’ Line, Releasing Assassin’s Creed and Botanicula This Month

Today GOG.com, which we fondly know as Good Old Games, is expanding past the “Old” genre. Previously GOG has released games from the early 2000’s, which arguably isnt that old either. But now they are making a real push to publish newer games and expand their reach in the digital distribution market.

GOG will be publishing “Botanicula“, a adventure game from the makers of Machinarium. If you grab the game on GOG before its release on April 19th, 2012 you will nab the discount price of $8.99 (regular price is $9.99). Like all GOG games you will also nab some beautiful digital art, a soundtrack, and other bonus goodies.

GOG.com is also beginning their Premium Editions line, where they will release newer games from larger publishers. The first two games to come out under the Premium Edition line are Assassin’s Creed: Director’s Cut and the Heroes of Might & Magic V Bundle (“which includes the both expansion packs ‘Hammer of Fate’ and Tribes of the East’)”. The will be available on GOG.com for a special introductory offer.”Buy one and get the other one free for a total price of $19.99″ by April 12th. I would say this is an excellent start to the new publishing push, and definitely a welcome addition to GOG’s portfolio.

Also! “GOG.com is giving away Fallout: A Post Apocalyptic Role Playing Game free for 48 hours until 23.59 GMT on 8 April, courtesy of Interplay.” Check out our post on details on how to grab the game.

WARSAW, Poland (5 April 2012) — GOG.com, the digital distributor of DRM-free games, brought out buckets of big news today, announcing preorders for indie adventure game Botanicula by the award-winning developers of Machiarium. Botanicula, available now on GOG.com for a special preorder price of $8.99, is a gorgeous adventure game from the makers of Machinarium. GOG.com is also announcing a “GOG.com Premium Edition” line of game releases, starting with two massive games from Ubisoft: Assassin’s Creed: Director’s Cut and the Heroes of Might & Magic V Bundle (which includes the both expansion packs “Hammer of Fate” and “Tribes of the East”). With about a gigabyte of goodies between the two titles, these games have a phenomenal line-up of extras, with a combined total of over 400 minutes of soundtracks, dozens of different artworks, official artbooks for both games, and more, these games are the best editions for sale on the ‘Net, and they’re available on GOG.com for a special introductory offer for these Premium Edition titles: buy one and get the other one free for a total price of $19.99 by 12 April or miss out on some of the best gaming values on GOG.com.
