Remember those rumors about an Elder Scrolls MMO? Well, turns out they were right. Revealed through the June cover of Game Informer, The Elder Scrolls Online will be an MMO developed by ZeniMax Online Studios and feature “the entire land of Tamriel, from Elsweyr to Skyrim.” If I recall correctly, Skyrim was a pretty huge place, so this will probably be somewhere close to pretty freaking huge.
It’s set a millennium before the events of Skyrim when daedric prince Molag Bal was doing real dickish things, like trying to pull Tamriel into his demon world. The project will be helmed by Matt Firor of Dark Age of Camelot fame and is scheduled for release in 2013 for PC and Mac.
“It will be extremely rewarding finally to unveil what we have been developing the last several years,” said Firor. “The entire team is committed to creating the best MMO ever made – and one that is worthy of The Elder Scrolls franchise.”
Game Informer will have more information coming soon including a teaser trailer tomorrow morning and a single/couple/who knows how many screenshots, so stay tuned!
Or whatever the equivalent is on the Internet of tuning into something. It also stands to reason that we’ll be hearing/seeing more about this at this year’s QuakeCon, so tune harder?
