GameHounds Episode 32: Penis Envy

Welcome to a new week and a new episode of GameHounds Podcast. And welcome to the first week of LISTENER APPRECIATION MONTH, where GamerEdie Sellers and Cooper Hawkes give out all the great swag they got from GDC 08, E3 08 and PAX 08!

On this week’s episode, Edie and Hawkes discuss their usual stuff: Gaming and the video-game industry. And after Episode 31′s discuss of the va-jay-jay, they also give equal time to the man meat. It wasn’t intentional, but let’s face it, these two just can’t stay on topic. And listeners love them more for it, don’t they?

When they aren’t delving into the masculine nethers, they discuss Square Enix’s failed attempt to merge with Tecmo, Microsoft’s DLC clearance sale, rumors that Dead Space has been banned in three countries, new Halo 3 achievements, and Europe’s new Xbox Live Film Club.

• Square Enix attemps Tecmo takeover bid, but in a wicked twist of fate, Tecmo says no and instead announced it’s merging with Koei.
• Selected DLC on Xbox Live on sale through the end of October. If you haven’t bought your expansion packs, you might want to check out if the’ve gone on clearance.
• Dead Space rumored to be banned in three countries — China, Germany and Japan. We and GamePolitics are very suspicious of this announcement.
• Next Halo 3 update will add some acheivements and fun things. What are they? Bungie ain’t talking.
• Wanna see movie premieres? Then pop into the XBox Live Film Club and review a movie and you could win! Doesn’t apply to anyone BUT the UK.

Platform Nation @ PAX 2008: Day Three

Penny Arcade Expo is one of the few gamer shows that is seems too short.

Platform Nation was there at the final day of PAX 2008 to witness the final wind-down of this huge event.

GamerEdie Sellers was joined by a host of other Platform Nation hosts, including Chiahippo (PSHRadio), Mrs. LeftyBrown (The Married Gamers), Z3ro9 (Squad XP), InfectedPB503 (XBLRadio), BDazzler (Gamers Pub) and Platform Nation’s fearless leader, Steve519.

This panel discussion of the final day’s events also includes an impressive array of guests. Todd Howard, creative director of Bethesda’s Fallout 3, reveals a bunch of details about the game and fearlessly answers a half-hour of constant questions from the panel and the live chat-room audience.

Shawn White of Ninjatown also gets peppered with tons of questions about the upcoming DS game and what it’s like to go from being a game journalist to a game developer.

Finally Jeff Pobst, CEO of Hidden Path, talks about their upcoming tower-defense game, Defense Grid: The Awakening. He also gets very candid about Microsoft’s certification process and offers up insight about the development industry from a CEO’s viewpoint.

Platform Nation @ PAX08: Day Two

Penny Arcade Expo is now in full swing, and Platform Nation was there to bring you live coverage. On day two, Edie Sellers, BDazzler (of Gamers Pub), Cephiros (writer for Platform Nation), InfectedPB503, and X3ro9 made the day special with interviews and impressions of games they’d seen… and those they didn’t see. Guests include Hudson Games and Trixie360 of Gamerscore Blog.

It only took six months for it to happen, but finally Cooper Hawkes and Edie Sellers broach the subject that you all think about, but none will talk about. What does Whoopi Goldberg call it? The va-jay-jay?

But more importantly, they also discuss major news in the gaming world, not limited to rumors about Grand Theft Auto IV’s DLC (including release date), more rumors about the Xbox 360 price drop and how it might include a motion controller, Rush’s Moving Pictures album coming to Rock Band, Duke Nukem 3D details, and Loadrunner coming to Xbox Live Arcade.

There’s also much Sony love as well.
