This week Bill plays Shift 2 for half of half an hour, baseball is in full swing (get it?) as Bill’s road to the show meets his childhood inadequacies.  Pete’s attempt to get into Homefront is called off on the account of the game being entirely mediocre.  Oldies but kinda goodies Left 4 Dead and Split/Second get thrown through the ringer.  Bill teaches all of mankind how to be more productive at work with the help of youtube and a general disdain towards females.  Pete makes up for it though by hanging with the 12 year old girls in Free Realms.

SOE's Free-to-Play MMO finally arrives on the PlayStation 3.

 

Sony Online Entertainment’s casual free-to-play MMO, Free Realms,  will finally arrive on the PlayStation 3 on March 29 and will be available as a free download and will have Trophy Support.

“All jobs are available through level 4, as well as over 800 quests and countless minigames. Upgrade to a membership and get unlimited access to all job levels, as well as additional premium content and features.”

Free Realms features exploration, collections, quests, combat, minigames, holiday and community events, virtual pets, virtual housing as well as over 30,000 clothing and equipment combination options.

Membership starts at $4.99 a month, there will also be a a lifetime membership for $34.99.

For those that already have a Free Realms Station account for the PC version, you will be required to create a new Free Realms account on the PS3 on the PSN, they cannot be linked and Free Realms PS3 will not be cross-platform compatible with the PC version.

Free Realms which is Sony’s latest attempt at the MMO genre, just sent out an email announcing that Guild support is the newest thing to their browser based game. They even have a handy “how-to” guide explaining how it works.

Still no word on PS3 support, but with over 2 3 Million users, maybe there is no rush and they are doing the happy dance for all of the micro transactions on the way?

According to a press release, LiveGamer’s service, dubbed Live Gamer Exchange, will “provide the
SOE gaming community within these new games with a trusted way to conduct real-money transactions.”

SOE already allows LiveGamer’s real-money e-commerce system in EverQuest.

According to SOE’s president, it’s one of the many ways Sony is exploring in order to offer its network for free, as opposed to XBox Live’s monthly service charge.
